Handwritten orders for Company E of the 20th Illinois Volunteer Regiment. This company served in the western campaigns of the Civil War, including the Battles of Fort Donaldson, Shiloh, and Atlanta. The Company also served during the siege of Vicksburg and Sherman's March to the Sea.
These orders track the Company's actions during the four years of the war. The latter part of the book includes newspaper clippings documenting Company reunions. The book was maintained by Company doctor Christopher Goodbrake (1816-1891).
